A bandit kingpin Jabi Ruwa and some suspected gang members were apprehended by Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) troops in the Sokoto State village of Dambala.
According to reports, a separate operation in Zamfara resulted in the death of one bandit.
The arrests in Sokoto were made on Friday as part of a continuing clearance operation to purge the North-West of banditry, abduction, and other terrible crimes, a senior military source said.
After receiving reliable information, the army attacked bandit hideouts in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, and Zamfara.
This aided in the arrest of some suspected members of the Ruwa gang who were hiding in the Sokoto village of Dambala.
According to the source, Jabi Ruwa and four other members of his group were captured by the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gwadabawa and the Troops of Raka in Sokoto with the assistance of local guides.

The northwestern part of Nigeria has been one of the most terrorised regions in recent times, as thousands have been killed and displaced.
