Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has honoured his Yobe State counterpart, Governor Mai Mala Buni, by naming a newly constructed 500-housing estate in Njimtilo, Maiduguri, after him.
This gesture was made during the commissioning of four key projects in Maiduguri, which included the 500 housing estate, Shehu Sanda Kura road, Metro housing estate, and Borno Express flyover.
Governor Zulum also paid tribute to Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima by naming Metro Housing Estate and Mairi Mega School after him. These projects are a fulfillment of Governor Zulum’s 2023 campaign promises, aimed at restoring Borno State’s lost glory following over a decade of Boko Haram insurgency.
According to Governor Zulum, the successful completion of these projects would not have been possible without the cooperation of the residents. He emphasized the importance of unity, calling on residents to put aside their political differences and work together to develop the state.
The relationship between Borno and Yobe states was also highlighted by Governor Zulum, who noted that the two states share historical and political ties. This bond was further strengthened by Governor Mai Mala Buni’s pledge to work with Borno State in rebuilding the North-East region, which has been ravaged by insurgency.
Governor Buni commended Governor Zulum’s efforts in commissioning key projects, stating that both states share a common goal of restoring their former glory. He emphasized the importance of investing in education, healthcare, agriculture, and empowerment programs to ensure a brighter future for the people.
The Borno State government’s projects, executed in collaboration with local and international partners, aim to enhance the quality of life for residents who have suffered over a decade of Boko Haram terror.
