In a significant humanitarian effort, the Borno State Government has successfully distributed essential food items provided by the Federal Government to local communities in Ngala Local Government Area (LGA). This initiative targets approximately 63,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and residents affected by recent flooding.

The Director General of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammad Saidu Barkindo, dedicated over a week to oversee the distribution process. His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, FNSE, ceremoniously flagged off the initiative at Ngala before attending to other official duties in Abuja.

This aid distribution, conducted over a week, is part of an ongoing effort to support flood victims in Ngala. The relief materials, including food grains such as maize, sorghum, and millet, along with cash assistance, were donated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and delivered under the supervision of Dr. Barkindo. Priority was given to the most vulnerable households.

Dr. Mohammad Saidu Barkindo expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for his humanitarian efforts and commended the federal government for their timely support. He noted that Ngala had been isolated from the rest of the country for four months due to severe rainfall and flooding, which disrupted the movement of food supplies. The visit aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by the LGA’s residents.

Meanwhile Kanempress learnt that the previously reported the number of beneficiaries in Ngala as 14,000 instead of the correct figure of 63,000. We regret this error and any confusion it may have caused. Additionally, it is important to clarify that the bulk of this aid was received from the Federal Government for distribution to the beneficiaries.
