Borno State Ministry Proposes 2025 Budget with Focus on Cultural Revival and Security

Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security presented its 2025 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information and Internal Security on December 17, 2024. The session, held at the Borno State House of Assembly complex in Maiduguri, was chaired by Hon. Bukar Modu, representing Konduga Constituency, with other committee members Hon. Engr. Gambomi Marte and Hon. Yakubu Kimba, representing Marte and Biu constituencies, respectively, in attendance.
The Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, led the ministerial delegation and detailed the Ministry’s achievements over the past year. These include the rehabilitation of the Government Printing Press, procurement of vehicles for security operations, support for community resettlement, and the recruitment of additional Civilian Joint Task Force personnel. Prof. Tar also emphasized the Ministry’s significant role in the Kanem Borno Summit and the Sir Ahmadu Bello Lecture.
For the 2025 fiscal year, the Ministry proposed several ambitious projects, including the construction of fire service stations across all 27 local government areas, a central command and control center, new military barracks, and a Borno State Cultural Centre. Additionally, plans for museum construction, historical site development, and the reconstruction of BRTV Maiduguri were highlighted.
The Committee commended the Ministry’s efforts in promoting culture, noting its recent successes at the National Festival of Arts and Culture, which have enhanced the state’s cultural reputation and supported Governor Zulum’s vision of rebuilding Borno. The Committee pledged full support for the proposed budget to help the Ministry achieve its objectives.
Top Ministry officials, including the Permanent Secretary, Modu Alhaji Mustapha, and directors from various departments and parastatals, were also in attendance.
