Gombe Aims to Recruit 200 additional Health Personnel to Address manpower Shortage

Gombe State governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has emphasized the importance of providing quality and affordable healthcare services to the people of the state. He stated that this is a key priority for his administration in achieving Universal Health Coverage.

To support this goal, Governor Yahaya who was represented by Secretary to the State government,Proff Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, announced that his administration has already employed 260 healthcare workers including pharmacists. In addition plans are in place to recruit another 200 personnel to address the manpower needs of the upcoming hospitals in Kaltungo Kumo and Bajoga.

These efforts are aimed at improving access to healthcare services and ensuring that the people of Gombe State have access to the necessary healthcare professionals. By increasing the number of health personnel the state government hopes to enhance the delivery of healthcare services and ultimately improve the overall health and well-being of the people.

The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with the national officials of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN who were in Gombe to finalize arrangements for their upcoming national conference in the state.

The PSN President Professor Cyril Usifor expressed appreciation for the state government’s commitment to healthcare and the recruitment of more healthcare workers. He also commended the efforts of the government in providing affordable and quality healthcare services to the people.

The recruitment of additional health personnel is seen as a positive step towards strengthening the healthcare sector in Gombe State. It is hoped that these efforts will contribute to the overall improvement of healthcare services and the achievement of Universal Health Coverage in the state.

He explained that government has provided at least one functional health center in each of the 114 political wards of the state.

The governor added that in addition to the remodelling of the state specialist hospital, the government under his leadership, is reinvigorating the general hospitals in Kaltungo and Bajoga while a new one is being constructed in Kumo to bring quality and affordable health care services to the people at the grassroots.

“For the want of time, these are just few out of the numerous interventions the Gombe State governor has provided and is still providing to guarantee the health of the people,” he said

On the industrial park, which the President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria described as futuristic master class, the representative of the governor said when completed, it would serve as a manufacturing hub with positive effect on employment and value chain.

Earlier speaking, Professor Usifor said they were in the state for their Annual General Meeting (AGM) preparatory to their national conference scheduled to hold sometime this month in Gombe.

He commended the administration of Governor Yahaya for creating a business friendly environment for potential investors to explore and make fortune for themselves and the people of the state.

The PSN president described the Muhammadu Buhari industrial park as a revolutionary step taken by the administration of Governor Yahaya to bring social and economic prosperity to the people of the state.

He said given the available necessary condition for the Ease of Doing Business in the state, the society will be left with no other choice than to market the potentials of the state to investors within and outside the country.
