Gov Zulum released 250M for medical student scholarship

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum bid farewell to 19 qualified Borno state indigenes who will be departing to Egypt for medical studies.
The students who were selected after rigorous processes at the institution in Egypt are to sign a bond with the Borno state Government and are expected to depart Nigeria on 11, February,2023
The students were led to the government house by the Commissioner for Higher education Dr. Mustapha Malumbe and the lead Consultant from Egypt, Dr. Tamos Kahzim as well as the Executive Secretary of the state scholarship Board Dr. Bala Isa.
In his introductory remarks, the commissioner disclosed that the scholarship is among the bilateral agreements reached during the governor’s visit to the Republic of Egypt last year.
Giving insight into the scholarship scheme, Bala said 19 students made the university criteria, out of which 12 are males and 7 are females all within the 27 local governments of the state. Besides meeting the University criteria, the selected students are all from less privileged backgrounds.
The Governor congratulates the students for meeting the admission criteria of the university and for the state government to support them.
He directed the board to ensure that they signed a bond with the state government that after their studies they will return to serve the state.
Meanwhile, he equally approved 500 US each for take-off while they will be receiving 200 USD monthly.
In his farewell message to the students, the governor called on them to be good ambassadors of the state by sticking to the norms and culture of Borno and should take their studies with all seriousness.
