The Members of the Chibok community in Borno State have revealed that since the abduction of the girls in 2014, 37 parents of the missing girls have died of heartbreak.

This was disclosed by a sibling to one of the abductees, Ayuba Alamson, who made the claim in Abuja on Saturday, May 20, at an event organized by Women Radio to commemorate nine years of the abduction and remind President Muhammadu Buhari of his vow to rescue the girls.

He, however, said the parents of the remaining girls who were yet to return were traumatized and abandoned by the government.

According to the reports gathered by ICIR Nigeria Alamson explained that some of the girls who regained freedom went to secondary schools in Jos, Plateau State, to complete their education.

He, similarly, expressed optimism that the girls would be released under the Bola Tinubu presidency, given that the Vice-President-elect, Kashim Shettima, was the governor of Borno State when insurgents took away the girls.

He also said, “Thank God that the former governor of our state, Kashim Shettima is the present Vice-President-elect, we are calling on him and pleading for the rescue of the remaining girls as he tried doing during his tenure as governor.
