Kenyan opposition protesters are on with planned demonstrations, defying warning from police who called the protests illegal.

Bus and car drivers joined the demonstration, expressing fear over rising cost of fuel.

Police Officers sprayed tear gas at fed up protesters in various towns to disperse them.

Protest organisers called for a scrap of a new law which doubles fuel taxes and imposes a 1.5% housing levy on employees.

According to the government the measure is necessary to fix debt repayment issues and create job opportunities for the unemployed youth.

Confrontations between opposition protesters and the police last week Friday led to six deaths in multiple towns.

Major roads in the capital Nairobi are blocked.

Businesses remain closed, and transportation were grounded.
