Military airstrikes in Northeast Borno kill 11 terrorists, destroy ISWAP camps

Nigerian Air Force Super Tucano fighter jets in the Lake Chad Tumbus axis of Borno State, have destroyed the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) hide-outs, killing 11 terrorists.

The terrorists were neutralised on July 15, 2023, afte intelligence reports on their presence in Kollaram and Arinna/Chiki camps.

According to counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, Mr. Zagazola Makama, in Maiduguri the fighter jets bombarded the camps, killing about 11 terrorists, including a commander, in the region.

Makama said another group of terrorists was killed while fleeing in canoes in the Kirta-Wulgo axis of the state.

Military sources in Maiduguri confirmed that the terrorists were neutralised by airstrikes, in an attempt to cross the lake to rejoin their colleagues at Tumbun Rego.

The source also stated that the terrorists were trying to regroup in order to launch attack on a military post in the region.
