The Yobe State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed confidence in Governor Mai Mala Buni CON’s approval of the new minimum wage, which aims to benefit both workers and the current administration.

In a statement issued by Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant for Digital and Strategic Communications, NLC Yobe State Chairman, Comrade Muktari Musa Tarbutu, addressed a malicious and fabricated circular circulating on social media that called for a statewide strike by Yobe State civil servants.

Comrade Tarbutu clarified that the circular is entirely false and baseless. He noted that the joint committee between the government and the NLC has concluded its negotiations on the new minimum wage, and the report has been forwarded to Governor Buni for consideration and approval.

The NLC Chairman urged all civil servants in Yobe to disregard the false circular and continue with their normal duties. He also advised the public to be cautious of fake news and to verify information through credible sources before sharing.

Comrade Tarbutu reaffirmed the Yobe State NLC’s commitment to promoting and protecting the rights and interests of Yobe State workers.
