NEMA provide relief materials to support 650 households affected floods in Bauchi.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has today Thursday the 3rd, August,2023 initiated the initial phase of providing aid to 650 individuals and families affected by the 2022 floods in Bauchi state.
Suleiman Muhammad,who was an assistant director of relief and rehabilitation at NEMA expressed that the relief materials would be allocated to households in all 20 local government areas of the state.
These distributions are part of the 2023 National Special Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention (SNELEI) program which aims to support flood victims and the most vulnerable individuals in the state. The distribution is set to be carried out in three phases with the first phase currently underway.
“The verification of registered flood victims for the SNELEI intervention was designed to provide support for victims of the 2022 disaster, targeting 13,226 households across Bauchi State.
“The relief materials include food items, livelihood support tools, and seedlings, among others, which will be distributed directly to victims to build their socio-economic resilience,’’ Mr Muhammad said.
They are rice, beans, soya beans, maize, groundnut oil, other cooking condiments, blankets, mattresses, mats, stoves, pots, soaps and mosquito nets.
Other items being distributed include seedlings for crops chemicals for pest control fertilizers sewing machines grinding machines and sprayers among others.
As stated by Mr. Muhammad the implementation of these interventions will be carried out jointly by NEMA and the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency.
Responding to this Abdullahi Usman the chairman of the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency expressed appreciation to the federal government for establishing this special program aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by vulnerable individuals and those affected by floods.
Mr. Usman also noted that the distribution of these items was timely and would greatly relieve the suffering of the beneficiaries.
