New Era at ATBU: Kabiru Garba Aminu appointed Substantive Registrar among other principal officers.

According to a statement released by the university’s Governing council on Monday 9th December, 2024 announcing the appointment of new principal officers including the Registrar as Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu, Mr Oluyede Oluseyi Adeniki as the new Bursar, and Dr. Dauda Adamu Bakum as the new Librarian.
The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, of the Varsity Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba and Chairman of the council has charged them to recognise challenges ahead while handing them over their appointment letters.
Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu, was the former Registrar Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State from 2016-2022 and also the pioneer Registrar of the institute of Education, Kangere, Bauchi from 2014-2016.
Kabiru Garba Aminu, was born on 21 March, 1969 where his educational journey began at Wunti Primary School in 1979 to 1982 and later proceeded to Government Day Secondary School Shadawanka Army Barracks, Bauchi from 1982 to 1987 for his secondary education.
In his yearning for Tertiary Education, Kabiru Garba Aminu joined Bauchi State Polytechnic (now Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi), where he obtained I.J.M.B statement of result. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Maiduguri from 1989 – 1994 also joined the International Institute of Journalism Abuja where he obtained Diploma Certificate in Journalism as well as certificate in Computer Studies at I.C.T.C. A.T.B.U Bauchi.
Aminu’s working career started as an Administrative Assistant (Information and Public Relations Unit) ATBU from 1997 and rose through the ranks up to the position of Deputy Registrar (Admin and Council) in 2014.
Among other capacities he served include; Assistant Registrar (Information and Public Relations Unit), Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi-2006-2009; Principal Assistant Registrar (Information and Public Relations Unit), ATBU, Bauchi-2009 -2010; Principal Assistant Registrar (Admin and Council Division)-2010 -2014 and Deputy Registrar (Admin and Council Division)-2014. Chairman, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Bauchi State Chapter from 2009 – 2013, Bauchi State Coordinator Public Administration and Management Development Institute as well as Secretary to the University Governing Council, Secretary to ad hoc committees including; Secretary, Search Team for new VC, ATBU in 2014. Secretary, Taskforce on Stakeholder Town Hall meeting on TETfund Intervention in the Tertiary Education Sector in Nigeria (North East Zonal Event)- 3rd April, 2014, numerous Committees in the Academia and among others.
Upon his return to his base, ATBU served as the Varsity’s acting Public Relation officer in 2022-2023 and also served as the Secretary School of Postgraduate Studies, ATBU until his appointment as the new Substantive Registrar.
He is currently a member of several Professional bodies including, Member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Member Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and Fellow Public Administration and Management Development Institute.
Aminu has attended workshops and conferences within and outside the country and has publications in TETFund Sponsored Journal of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations. He is also a recipient of many awards including international award by a United State based organisation and also commendation letters from different Institutions and individuals in recognition of his selfless service to humanity. He has visited several Countries as United Arab Emirates, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Niger and Saudi Arabia, among others.
Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu is happily married with caring wives and Children.
Aminu on behalf of the new appointees thanked the board for considering them and assured their contribution to success of the new VC’s administration as well as the general growth and development of the university.
