Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with governors of States which share boundaries with Niger Republic.
The meeting held at the State House, Abuja, on Sunday, was part of consultations by President Tinubu on the situation in Niger.
Governor in attendance include Ahmed Aliyu (Sokoto), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Mai Malam Buni (Yobe), Idris Nasir (Kebbi) and Dr Dikko Radda (Katsina).
President Tinubu in his capacity as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) had ordered a seven-day ultimatum to the military junta in Niger Republic to return power back to Mohammed Bazoum.
Beyond the ultimatum, Tinubu had in Abuja last weekend also announced a number of sanctions with borders linking Niger blocked, while power cut and flights halted indefinitely.
President Tinubu had written the leadership of the National Assembly to approve the deployment of military personnel to the troubled Niger but rather advised to tread carefully in the present circumstances.
