The Nigerian Army has said that its soldiers have succeeded in killing a number of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters on Monday, after thwarting an ambush attempt by them on the road from Damboa to Maiduguri in Borno state.
In a message published by the army on its twitter page, it said that it has recovered many weapons including ammunition and motorcycles.
The Chief of the Nigerian Army, General Faruk Yahaya, commended the troops for their bravery, urging them not to give up until the insurgents and other activities in the north-east are put to an end.
