The Civil Defense Agency in Nigeria has said it has seized 150 barrels of oil that were smuggled out of the country and arrested two suspects.

The Commander-in-Chief of Akwa Ibom State, Yusuf Imam, disclosed this to journalists in Uyo, the state capital on Saturday.

Imam said that the coast guard department acted on intelligence that some people carrying fuel in wooden boats were on their way to Cameroon.

He added that the officers of the agency also seized five machines and a machine used to steal fuel.

“Our Coast Guard officers have arrested two persons and seized 150 barrels of oil in a wooden boat in the sea in Ibeno Local Government Area of ​​Akwea Ibom State”, according to the State Commander-in-Chief. he explained.

The imam also warned those who commit such crimes on the coast – those who bring trouble or harm the economy of the country – saying that they will face severe punishment.
