NUJ Yobe Council Calls On Political Actors To Prioritize Issue-based Campaigns

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Yobe State Council has appealed to the general public especially those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters’ Card, PVC, to do so for them to exercise their franchise during the forthcoming general election.

This is contained in a Communiqué jointly signed by the Council Chairman Comrade Rajab Mohammed and the Council Secretary Alhassan Sule Mamudo, issued at the end of its Congress Meeting Held Tuesday, 17 January, 2023 at the NUJ Press Center along Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport Road Damaturu.

The congress equally appealed to the entire working journalists in the state to remain a political by observing the principles of objectivity, balance and fairness in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities.

According to the communique, the meeting stressed the need for political actors in the state to prioritize issue-based campaign and play the game by the rules to avoid overheating the polity and ensure hitch free elections.

During the meeting, the congress nominated five delegates that will represent the council at the special delegates conference in Kano from 24th to 27th January 2023.

The council resolved to fixed March 2023 as the dateline for the revalidation of membership Identification Card (ID) reminding those who are yet to paid the required fees to do so unfailingly.

The Congress equally acknowledged the withdrawal of JAKADIYA CHAPEL from the Yobe State Council necessitated by their inability to meet up with the Union constitutional requirement.

The Congress further constituted a fifteen member Media Games Committee under the chairmanship of SWAN Chairman Ahmed Kagana Amshi and mandated it to plan for the 2023 edition.
