South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo have signed about 40 trade agreements which include to resuscitate a hydroelectric scheme.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the agreements alongside Felix Tshisekedi in the Congolese capital, Kinshasa.

South Africa is currently facing electricity crisis with power cuts.

The Grand Inga Dam project is part of seven proposed hydroelectric power stations across the Congo river.

It would be the largest of its kind in the world after construction.
