The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has promised to continue supporting the education sector in the northeast so that more children will have the opportunity to go to school.
The representative of UNICEF in Nigeria, Ms Christian Munduate, disclosed this when she visited AUN University in Yola on Monday to conduct a program to support 100 children who do not go to school with food and study materials.
She explained their efforts to ensure that more children have the opportunity to study through the University and other schools across the region.
Munduate also called on the state governments to come up with programs that will bring about the development of education at small levels, where she pointed out the need to see the involvement of the private sector for the development of the education of young children.
Kanempress reported that Ms Christian said there is a need to give education to children because if they are not given it, they could become a challenge in the future.
The representative of UNICEF advised those who benefited from the program to continue going to school to get education because it will be useful for them, their families and the community.
