Voice Of Nigeria Holds 2nd Grand Media Summit, Calls For Continuous Peaceful Coexistence

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Dr Osita Okechukwu, has called for continuous peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
He made the call at the 2nd Grand Media Summit hosted by the VON chapter of the Radio, Television and Theatre and Arts Workers Union, in Lagos.
The Deputy Director, News Funke Atohengbe who represented the Director General, commended the Radio Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria, headed by Comrade Zanna Ibrahim Mustapha and his team for putting this laudable initiative.
It was an agog event on Thursday February as RATTAWU Voice of Nigeria Chapter under its visionary Chairman- Comrade Zanna Ibrahim MUSTAPHA held its 2nd Grand Media Summit to commemorate 2023 World Radio Day.
The event, under the Chairmanship of the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria- Dr. Osita Okechukwu turned out to be a gathering of Titans as notable scholars, venerable royals, technocrats, and other Dignitaries and Community Leaders registered their presence.
With the theme: ‘ Radio , Peaceful Co-existence , Diplomacy and 2023 Elections : the Role of Voice of Nigeria in averting Fake News & Misinformation in an era of New Media’ anchored by an erudite Scholar and Director-General of Nigeria Institute of International affairs as the Lead Guest Speaker- and Mr. Ken Ike Okere (Director of National Broadcast Academy) & Mrs. Funmi Agnes Sessi (Lagos State NLC Chairperson) Amb Patriot Alhassan Bintu Yakudima, Assistant State Commandant Conflict Resolution, Lagos state Command Peace Corps as co-guest Speakers- all offered impactful insights on the theme and current developments in the country.
As part of the programme, eminent persons were duly recognized and honoured with awards for exemplary contributions to their communities and the country at large.

CHIEF (MRS) AGNES FUNMI SESSI- AKISANMI, Chairperson of Nigerian Labour Congress received the outstanding Union Leadership Award.
Others are Prof. Eghosa E. Osaghae, Director General Nigerian Institute International Affairs NIIA, Victoria Island, the most outstanding Diplomat Award, HIGH CHIEF AMB. BORA NWAFOR (EBUBEDIKE NDIGBO), PRESIDENT GENERAL, IGBO PROGRESSIVES UNION WORLDWIDE, received the most progressive peace maker Award, Mr Ken Ike Okere, Director National Broadcasting Academy, Lagos Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, bagged the most creative and capacity builder technocrat Award and Engr. Alh. Sa’adu Yusuf Gulma, Chairman APC Arewa Community, bagged the most active grass roots Mobiliser Award among many others.
A financial expert Olateju Oladeji, highlighted on how best one can plan early for his retirement. highlighting some crucial decisions to be considered.
Similarly, Dr Adenekan (Consultant O&G) Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos, enlightened the participants on Cancer issues Closing the care gap.
Other highlights of the event were free eye medical tests and donations of eye glasses to participants.
This year’s summit comes seven years after the first edition in 2016 which focused on Media, Insurgency And the economy the role of Voice of Nigeria in Building and Sustaining Nigerian Image.
