In a recent development, the attention of the public has been drawn to a purported bulletin allegedly issued by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Yobe State Chapter, which was widely circulated on various social media platforms. The bulletin, which called for an indefinite statewide strike commencing from December 1, 2024, has been officially refuted by the Yobe State NLC chairman.

Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, has clarified that the said bulletin did not originate from the Yobe State NLC branch and that the organization has no knowledge of it. He stated, “My status page was hacked and the false bulletin was posted by mischievous persons with the intent to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.”

The public is hereby advised to disregard the bulletin in its entirety. The NLC Yobe State Chapter is not planning any industrial action at this time, and the alleged strike notice is deemed as fake.

This clarification is crucial to prevent misinformation and undue panic among the citizens. The Yobe State Government remains committed to engaging with all stakeholders to ensure the welfare and rights of workers in the state are upheld through constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.

Signed,
Mamman Mohammed,
DG Press and Media Affairs.
