The governor of Borno state in the northeast of Nigeria, Babagana Umara Zulum, visited the families of more than 30 fishermen who were killed by Boko Haram in the village of Mukdolo.

In a statement published by the governor on his Twitter account, he said that he went to Dikwa town from where the masons go to their business where the Boko Haram fighters attacked them, to condole with the families of the deceased.

Dikwa local government is one of the local governments that Boko Haram invaded in 2014 before the army drove them out and captured the town.

The governor met with the families of the deceased at the palace of Shehu Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Ibrahim El-Kanemi.

Zulum also consoled the family and prayed for mercy for the deceased.

“On behalf of the government and the people, I send a message of condolence to the families and relatives of those who were killed in their efforts to find their own food to support their families.”

The statement added that the governor offered support to the families of the deceased during the visit.
