The Executive Secretary and CEO of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, has visited Borno State to commiserate with the government and people over the recent devastating flood that ravaged major roads, houses, and shops in Maiduguri.
Dr. Sani, who also serves as the Supervisor General of Elkanemi College of Maiduguri and Imam School Nigeria, began his visit by meeting with Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the Government House.
He conveyed his deep concern and sadness about the lives lost and properties devastated by the flood.
The governor, appreciative of Dr. Sani’s gesture, briefed him on the ongoing relief efforts and the state government’s plans to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
Following his meeting with the governor, Dr. Sani proceeded to pay his respects to His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Elkanemi.
As a Muslim, Dr. Sani acknowledged that the flood is a test from Almighty Allah. “We must accept this trial with faith and perseverance,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones and those whose properties have been destroyed.”
To demonstrate his commitment to supporting the affected communities, Dr. Sani embarked on a tour of several flooded areas in Maiduguri.
He visited Zawiyyatu Abul Fatahi, Zawiya Sheikh Sharif Ibrahim Saleh, Gwange Areas, Kofa Biyu, Baga Road, and many other affected neighborhoods.
The visit afforded him a firsthand understanding of the extent of the damage and the challenges faced by the residents.
During his tour, Dr. Sani made donations to support relief efforts and offered prayers for the affected communities. “May Allah protect Borno and its people,” he prayed.
