Bauchi State has been recognized as the top-performing state in implementing the Agro-Climatic Resilience In Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, a significant multi-million dollar endeavour funded by the World Bank aimed at addressing climate change challenges in agriculture and food security.
Dr. Ibrahim Kabir, the state coordinator of ACReSAL, made this announcement during a comprehensive capacity-building workshop in Bauchi focused on addressing land degradation issues.
He highlighted Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s proactive approach, noting that Bauchi is the only state where a senior special adviser on ACReSAL has been appointed, underscoring the governor’s commitment to the project’s success.
Kabir emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts at the local level to tackle the high incidence of land degradation in Bauchi, stressing the importance of addressing this issue for the overall well-being of the populace.
He also outlined plans for the ACReSAL team in the state to engage in large-scale land restoration initiatives aimed at reclaiming valuable lands lost to degradation.
