Ben Guerir, Morocco :Yobe Govt to Partners with Mohammed VI University for Sabbatical and Exchange Programs

The Yobe State government has initiated a partnership with Mohammed VI University in Ben Guerir, Morocco, to establish sabbatical and exchange programs for staff and students.
In a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, the state delegation made the proposal on Thursday during a visit to the university.
Lamia Idbilti, the Corporate Communications Director, announced that the institution currently operates 160 partnership programs and would be delighted to include Yobe State in these initiatives. She highlighted that the university offers direct sponsorships and exchange programs for undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees.
Idbilti elaborated that prospective beneficiaries would have the opportunity to study in various fields, including Agriculture, Medical Sciences, Computer Engineering, Architecture, Green Technology, Humanities, and Hospitality, among others. She also mentioned that the partnership would benefit the state in Science, Energy, and Nano Engineering to develop green energy solutions.
“As a developing economy, Yobe State must start investing in this regard because it is a pressing issue that requires proactive measures,” she stated.
Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government and head of the delegation, emphasized that the Yobe State government would explore this opportunity to support staff of higher institutions in the state to participate in sabbatical programs at the university.
“The government will strive to meet the required conditions for our lecturers to undertake sabbaticals and for the students to benefit from the exchange and sponsorship programs,” Wali said.
The Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa, described the partnership as an excellent opportunity for capacity building for both staff and students.
“These are predominantly entrepreneurial courses that are marketable and offer prospects for direct employment generation and wealth creation,” Prof. Kawuwa remarked.
Alh. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe, the Chief Executive Officer of the consulting firm, African Network Center, assured that the firm is expediting the completion of the partnership procedures.
“We are moving swiftly to solidify the dialogue and set the partnership in motion. It is the ambition of all parties to see this partnership materialize promptly to secure admissions for both staff and students to commence the programs,” Ahmed stated.
