The Borno State Government has issued a strong appeal to its youth, urging them to uphold the state’s long-cherished values of peace, respect, and unity. This comes in response to disturbing social media trends where some young individuals have been seen brandishing knives, insulting government officials, and challenging lawful policies.
In a statement released by the Directorate of Culture under the Ministry of Information and Internal Security, the government expressed deep concern over this rising wave of unruly behavior. Borno, known as the Home of Peace, has long prided itself on its culture of tolerance, harmony, and communal coexistence across its eight Emirates. The government, therefore, sees such reckless actions as a direct threat to the very fabric of the state’s identity.
While reaffirming its commitment to upholding citizens’ constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly, the government made it clear that disorderly conduct, threats, and the spread of misinformation will not be tolerated. Any individual who violates the law will face the full weight of justice.
“The doors of the government remain open for legitimate complaints and constructive engagement,” the statement read. “However, citizens must express their grievances within the bounds of the law, without inciting division or spreading fake news.”
The government also attached video references featuring voices of Borno youth, elders, and leaders advocating for peace and responsible civic engagement.
This call to order is not just about governance—it is about preserving the soul of Borno, ensuring that the future generation upholds the dignity and discipline that has defined the state for centuries.
