Five years after being sworn into office, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been tirelessly working to revamp the education sector, taking the state to new heights of excellence from basic to higher levels.

The Buni administration has introduced various education plans, scholarship programs, school building rehabilitation, teachers’ welfare, and more.

The governor buit six mega and girls’ secondary schools across the state, starting with model primary schools in Buni Yadi, Damaturu, Geidam, and Potiskum local government areas. These schools were built to modern academic standards, each with 48 well-furnished classrooms, 12 staff rooms, and computers for E-learning and other facilities to enhance Yobe’s education status.

The governor has also focused on the school feeding program, disbursing billions of naira to support students’ meals, encouraging punctuality and concentration. This program has helped thousands of pupils combat malnutrition and significantly reduced the number of out-of-school children in the state.

Additionally, the governor ensures regular payment of teachers’ salaries and promotes them based on dedication, which has boosted teachers’ morale and encouraged diligent teaching.

The Buni administration has also renovated schools from basic to higher institutions across the state, rehabilitating dilapidated buildings, learning facilities, and academic amenities.

This has benefited basic education and transformed school projects, prioritizing teachers’ well-being. Most schools with old buildings and inadequate facilities have been rebuilt, providing enough space for thousands of students to develop education in Yobe State.

The governor’s education reform aims to transform Yobe’s education system, attracting young children and their parents to enroll in schools with standard teaching and learning facilities for a better future.

At the higher education level, the governor has made significant strides, providing new departmental buildings, laboratory rooms, lecture rooms, and roads in various institutions. Scholarships have also been awarded to 233 indigenous students to study in India, Russia, England, and other countries, promoting professional courses and education in Yobe State.

In conclusion, I urge the governor to continue his efforts in advancing Yobe’s education sector. His transformation initiatives will undoubtedly help the state achieve unprecedented success and build a promising Yobe State.
