Democracy Day:Gov Buni Celebrates Hails Yobe Citizens as Pillars of Democratic Progress

Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has commended the people of the state for their unwavering support of government policies and programs, describing them as the backbone of democracy.
In a statement issued to Kanem Press correspondents by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs, the governor emphasized the significance of Democracy Day in Nigeria, marking 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule.
Governor Buni acknowledged that the people’s commitment to democratic ideals has strengthened governance and fostered inclusivity in the state. He highlighted his administration’s dedication to youth empowerment, citing the appointment of young individuals as commissioners, heads of government agencies, special advisers, and assistants as a strategy to enhance participatory governance.
“Democracy has given the people a voice in governance, allowing them to actively contribute to decision-making and take ownership of government policies. In Yobe, our open-door policy ensures inclusive participation and strengthens the people’s sense of belonging,” Governor Buni stated.
Expressing optimism for the state’s future, he underscored the vital role of youth in shaping a prosperous political landscape. He reiterated his commitment to delivering impactful developmental projects that enhance the lives of citizens and ensure government resources are effectively utilized.
Governor Buni also called for sustained cooperation among citizens to advance democratic governance, urging them to embrace agriculture during the rainy season, support security efforts, and foster peaceful coexistence across the state.
As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, he reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to good governance, participatory leadership, and the overall well-being of the people.
