Flood: Borno Elders Forum Commends Rescue Workers, Donors

The Borno Elders Forum (BEF) has extended its heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to all individuals, groups, and organizations that provided assistance during the recent flood disaster that devastated Maiduguri and its environs.
In a statement released by its Secretary/Spokesman, Dr. Bulama Mali Gubio, the BEF commended the public-spirited groups, organizations, and individuals who provided rescue efforts, livelihood support, shelter, transportation, feeding, and other forms of aid during the crisis.
The forum also expressed confidence in the leadership of the state in handling the challenging situation and sympathized with Governor Babagana Umar Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, and all those affected by the disaster.
The BEF appreciated the resilience, courage, and faith of the direct victims of the disaster and encouraged them to continue to be patient and put their hope and trust in Allah.
The statement further urged the federal, state, and local authorities to be proactive in addressing the needs of the people with dedicated zeal and political will.
It also called on philanthropists, financial institutions, and donor agencies to come forward with massive support, noting that the destructions are enormous and beyond easy quantification.
The BEF condoled with the families of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a quick recovery.
The statement concluded by calling for collective prayers to alleviate the situation and avert future misfortunes.
