Houses and roads have been destroyed, in Tanzania with uncertain number of people killed after heavy rains pounded the commercial capital of Dar es Salaam for two days.
Reports say some houses near rivers collapsed, roads and bridges destroyed, making the city inaccessible..
The main Bagamoyo road, which joins the city to the northern regions, was hard to navigate on Sunday after a downpour flooded the area.
Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan advised citizens to take precautions by avoiding affected areas.
She also called on the rescue authorities to make sure that the rains do not cause deaths.
The Tanzania Meteorological Agency had warned of heavy rains for the rest of this month.
