Ghana and Morocco Agree to Waive Visa Requirements, Strengthen Ties

Ghana and Morocco have reached an agreement to waive visa requirements for all travelers between the two nations, a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties. Ghanaian Foreign Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that the agreement will soon be presented to both parliaments for ratification.
As part of the new deal, the two countries plan to expand cooperation in key sectors such as agribusiness, tourism, and security. Additionally, Morocco has increased its annual scholarships for Ghanaian students, raising the number of scholarships from 90 to 180.
Addressing concerns over reports of violence against Africans in Morocco, Ablakwa clarified that a viral video depicting 700 African deaths was misleading. He confirmed that the incident occurred in June 2022 and resulted in 23 fatalities, with no Ghanaian casualties.
