In a display of commitment and proactive governance, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, COMN, conducted unscheduled visits to two critical projects today.
Governor Buni first inspected the Damaturu Sesame Seeds Processing Factory. A statement issued to Kanempress by Mamman Mohammed, DG Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, highlighted Buni’s satisfaction with the structural completion and ongoing equipment installation at the facility. He lauded the project’s timely completion, setting a commendable standard for other contractors to follow.

The Damaturu Sesame Processing Factory, along with its counterparts in Machina, Potiskum, and Nguru, is designed to cleanse, process, and package sesame seeds to meet international standards. Each plant boasts a processing capacity of six tonnes per hour, significantly enhancing the efficiency and quality of sesame production in the region.
With the new facilities, farmers can now access modern processing services, ensuring their produce meets global market standards and commands better prices. Beyond improving agricultural practices, the factories are expected to generate employment opportunities and boost the state’s economy. The processing plants are anticipated to raise annual sesame production in Yobe State to over 60,000 tonnes, contributing significantly to the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

In a separate but equally significant visit, Gov. Buni assessed the progress of the Damaturu-Kalalawa Dual Carriage Federal Highway reconstruction. The Governor praised the contractor for their renewed vigor and dedication to completing the project. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the swift completion of this vital infrastructure.
These surprise visits by Gov. Buni underscore his dedication to driving development and ensuring the efficiency of ongoing projects across Yobe State. Excitement and anticipation build as residents look forward to the enhanced infrastructure and economic benefits these projects promise to deliver.
