Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has presented a budget proposal of ₦515.58 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

In a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, the appropriation bill is tagged “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation.” It is designed to cover capital, recurrent, overhead, and personnel costs for the year.

The 2026 proposed budget marks a significant increase from the ₦320.81 billion budget of the outgoing year, reflecting the government’s renewed commitment to accelerated development.

Of the total figure, ₦192.13 billion—representing 37.3%—is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦323.46 billion, or 62.7%, is earmarked for capital projects across key sectors.

Governor Buni highlighted the administration’s continued focus on healthcare delivery, education, agriculture, and infrastructural development, including road construction, electricity, and water supply, as major areas that received government attention in the outgoing fiscal year.

He further announced plans to establish a dialysis center in Gashua to support kidney patients and to construct a new General Hospital in Potiskum to ease pressure on the Specialist Hospital in the town.

Governor Buni reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain the tempo of development and ensure inclusive growth across Yobe State.
