Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the deadly suicide bomb attack that took place in Konduga Local Government Area on Thursday night.
The tragic incident happened around 10:00 p.m. at a local night fish market, where a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist detonated explosives, killing 12 people and injuring 18 others.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, Governor Zulum described the attack as “barbaric and cowardly.” He said such violence is an attack on humanity and an attempt to spread fear among the people.
“These terrorists want to break our spirit,” Zulum said. “But the people of Borno are strong. We will not be intimidated.”
He called on residents to remain alert and to report anything suspicious to the security agencies, stressing that everyone must work together to defeat terrorism.
“To the families who lost loved ones, I offer my deepest condolences,” Zulum said. “I also pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.”
The governor reassured the public that his government is working closely with security forces to protect lives and prevent future attacks.
“We are committed to keeping our people safe,” he said.
The state continues to stand united against terrorism, with hope for lasting peace and healing for the victims’ families.
