In a historic achievement for the Kanuri community, Professor Fanna Inna Abdurahman has made her mark as the first female Kanuri Professor at the University of Maiduguri. Professor Fanna’s path to this prestigious position is a testimony to resilience and dedication. Beginning her educational journey at Yerwa Central Primary School, she rose through the ranks of academia, culminating in her professorship. Throughout her career, she has held significant leadership roles, including Head of Department, Sub-Dean, and Dean.
In addition, she was the first female from Borno State to be appointed as a Deputy Vice chancellor Admin. Borno State University, showcasing her commitment to academic excellence and institutional advancement.
Her contributions to the fields of organic and environmental chemistry are notable, with over 120 published papers that underline her expertise and innovative approach to research. As the current Director of the Center for Research and Innovation at the University of Maiduguri, Professor Fanna continues to drive progress in her field while mentoring the next generation of scientists.
