In a momentous celebration marking his four-year reign, HRH Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha, the Mai Kanuribe of Lagos, expressed heartfelt gratitude to key dignitaries and community leaders who have supported his leadership.

The traditional ruler, renowned for his leadership of the Arewa community in Lagos, used the anniversary to reflect on the journey and reaffirm his commitment to fostering peace and unity. He extended special thanks to prominent figures such as the Shehu of Borno, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State, and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

“My sincere gratitude goes to these outstanding leaders for their continued support, which has been invaluable in steering the course of progress for the Arewa community in Lagos,” HRH Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha remarked.

A pillar of the Arewa community, the Mai Kanuribe also acknowledged the instrumental roles played by first-class chiefs within the region. He singled out the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Abubakar Bambado, and the Sarkin Hausawa, Alhaji Aminu Yaro and all other community leaders, along with their respective councils, for their support and cooperation in the last four years.

The Mai Kanuribe, who is also the pioneering Chairman of the Mai Kanuribe Forum of Nigeria, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence. “As we celebrate this milestone, I call for continued peace and understanding among all members of the Arewa community in the South West. Let us continue to promote harmony and unity, upholding the values that define us as a people.”

HRH Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha also emphasized the need for law-abiding conduct among his subjects. Speaking to his council and community members, he advised them to respect the authorities in Lagos and the entire South West region. “Let us always be loyal ambassadors of Borno, adhering to the legal means of livelihood and contributing to the betterment of the society,” he urged.

Reflecting on the grace of Allah, the Mai Kanuribe expressed profound joy and gratitude for the opportunity to serve his people. “Witnessing four years on the throne is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the collective strength and cooperation of our community. I am thankful to Allah for this opportunity, and I look forward to many more years of service.”

As the Mai Kanuribe continues to guide his people with wisdom and vision, the anniversary celebration serves as a reminder of the enduring spirit of unity and peace within the Arewa community in Lagos and the South West. With his leadership, the Mai Kanuribe of Lagos remains a beacon of hope, progress, and harmony for generations to come.
