The National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM) has unveiled plans to implement digital systems, potentially saving Nigeria up to N5 billion annually.

Dr. Shola Odusanya, the Director-General of NACETEM, shared this vision at the 2025 Conference on Public Policymaking in Abuja.

Dr. Odusanya explained that digitalisation would eliminate paper usage, prevent file losses, and secure processes like voting.

He emphasized that digital literacy is crucial for this transformation, pointing out that systems such as digital passport issuance and voting would streamline operations and improve efficiency.

Additionally, he highlighted opportunities to digitize other services, which could help reduce costs and enhance service delivery.

Professor Azikiwe Onwualu, President of the African University of Science and Technology, supported the idea, noting that Nigeria’s progress has been hindered by a lack of systems thinking and advocating for a more holistic approach to addressing challenges.
