National Minimum wage:Yobe Govt Set up a Ten-Man Implementation Committee

The Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has officially constituted a ten-man committee to oversee the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage recently approved by the federal government.

This announcement was made by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Chief Information Officer in the Office of the Head of Service.The committee will be chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, with the Head of the Civil Service serving as Co-Chair. The remaining members include:

  • Hon. Commissioner of Finance, Alh. Mohammed Abatcha Geidam
  • Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alh. Garba Gagiyo
  • Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Jajere FCNA
  • State Accountant General
  • Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Mukhtar Musa Tarabutu
  • Trade Union Congress (TUC) representative, Bulama Musa
  • Permanent Secretary for Establishment, Shuaibu Ibrahim Amshi (serving as Secretary)
  • Permanent Secretary for Public Service in the Office of the Head of Service, Dr. Bukar Kilo mni (serving as Co-Secretary)

The committee’s primary responsibilities will include developing modalities for the effective implementation of the new national minimum wage within the state. Additionally, they will assess the financial implications of this implementation at both the state and local government levels and provide recommendations for government consideration.
