Nigeria has alerted its citizens on the release of water from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon.

Speaking with Kanempress, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHASA Umar Muhammed, said the dam’s regulated water releases will commence on September seventeen.

Kanempress gathered that the water discharge is anticipated to progressively escalate to one-thousand meters over the next seven days based on the inflow from the upstream Garoua River.

The NIHSA boss explained that there is no cause for alarm as the agency continues to diligently monitor the flow conditions of the trans-boundary Benue River and the national inland rivers, and consistently provide regular updates on water levels across major rivers to avert further flood disasters.

Meanwhile, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has affirmed his administration’s commitment to aiding the victims of the flood disaster in Maiduguri, Northeast Borno State.

President Tinubu made the pledge while addressing victims of the flood disaster at the camp of the Internally Displaced Persons located in Government Secondary School, Maiduguri, Borno State.

The President reassured the citizens of his support while he identified with the humanitarian challenges further exacerbated by the flood crisis.

The September ten floods caused damage to schools, hospitals, government offices, banks and commercial areas, markets, a zoo, worship centres, homes, and prisons.
