The Nigerian government has revealed plans to establish a large-scale cattle ranch in Niger State, in collaboration with Brazil, the world’s leading cattle rancher. The ambitious project is designed to significantly boost livestock production in Nigeria and will cover 100,000 hectares of land, housing around 100,000 bulls.
Niger State was chosen as the location due to its rich resources, including ample water supply, and the state government’s commitment to allocate 1.2 million hectares of land for the $2.5 billion investment.
Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Mukhtar, shared that financial discussions with Brazilian investors are still ongoing. Meanwhile, Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, expressed confidence in the project’s success, emphasizing the state’s resources and strong commitment to its realization.
This initiative aims to transform Nigeria’s livestock industry, contributing to agricultural development and ensuring a steady supply of beef, benefiting both local farmers and the broader economy.
