Over 50 people have died in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray and Amhara regions amid drought and an aid freeze.

The UN stated that Ethiopia has had five failed rainy seasons since 2019.

The US and UN had suspended aid earlier this year based on allegations of theft, worsening the humanitarian crisis.

Tigray is recovering from a two-year civil war, which ended a year ago, while a conflict erupted in Amhara.

As northern Ethiopia battled drought, the country’s southern and eastern regions were also deluged by flash floods.
