Police apprehend two ladies, eight others for killing a cop in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has arrested 10 persons in connection with the killing of a police constable in Maiduguri, the capital of the state.

Among the suspects, there are two females and eight males, namely Usman Audu (20), Hauwa Usman (20), Aisha Musa (19), Abba Bala (20), Sunday Garba (21), David Paul (35), Mohammed Abubakar (19), Jude Eze (37), Amaechi Abdulsalam Afochibe (37), and Nduibuse Nnaji (34).

The victim, Babagana Mala, was a police constable attached to the Police Crack Unit and was deployed to Malari in Konduga Local Government Area.

Kanempress learned that the incident occurred on Sunday around 4.27 pm in the Artillery area of Maiduguri.

While according to the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Yusufu, the constable was stabbed in the back during an altercation with the assailants.

He started, “The police received a distress call from the area and promptly responded. We rushed the injured constable to the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Subsequently, we undercover operatives obtained a video clip of the incident from a good Samaritan, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.”

He added that the Police assured a thorough investigation before the suspects are presented in court to face appropriate charges.
