In a groundbreaking development for Nigeria’s agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture has announced that Saudi Arabia will establish factories in Nigeria to manufacture farm equipment.

The revelation came from Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture, who shared the news on his X (formerly Twitter) account following a high-level meeting with stakeholders from the Middle Eastern nation.

Senator Kyari emphasized that this initiative is aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s agricultural mechanisation efforts.

By setting up these manufacturing plants, Saudi Arabia aims to significantly enhance the efficiency and productivity of Nigeria’s farming practices, leading to improved food security and economic growth.

Additionally, the partnership includes a major trade agreement where Saudi Arabia has committed to purchasing 200,000 metric tons of red meat and one million tons of soya from Nigeria annually.

This substantial demand is expected to drive local production, create jobs, and generate substantial revenue for the country.

This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for agricultural transformation, aligning with the government’s vision to achieve self-sufficiency and sustainable development in the sector.

The establishment of these factories and the export commitments represent a win-win situation for both nations, fostering economic ties and ensuring mutual benefits.

With this ambitious project, Nigeria is poised to become a key player in the global agricultural market, reinforcing its position as a vital hub for agricultural innovation and trade in Africa.
