In a compelling display of leadership and civic commitment, His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Bama, Dr. Umar Kyari Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-Kanemi, convened a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at his palace in Bama Local Government Area. The gathering marked a significant call to action, mobilising the community for voter registration, peacebuilding, and environmental sustainability.

The meeting brought together a diverse assembly of traditional leaders, youth and women representatives, religious figures, civil society organisations, and key community influencers. With a calm yet commanding presence, the Shehu stood not just as a monarch, but as a beacon of unity, purpose, and vision for his people.

Voters Registration Exercise: “The PVC Is Our Power

In his keynote address, the Shehu emphasised the critical importance of voter registration, calling on all stakeholders to intensify grassroots sensitization, particularly among youth, women, and the elderly.

“The PVC is not just a card, it is our voice, our power, and our future,” he declared. “With it, we can elect leaders who will bring peace, progress, and prosperity to Bama.”

He urged community leaders to return to their wards and ensure widespread outreach across all 14 wards of Bama LGA—including Kumshe, Marka, Malge, Amchaka, Walasa, Soye, Sobsawa, Zangeri, Kote, Bogomari, and others.
“Let no one be left behind. Every eligible citizen, our youth, our women, our elders, must know that their vote counts.”

Sustaining Peace and Unity: The Soul of Bama

At a time when many communities face social fragmentation, the Shehu praised the unwavering spirit of unity and resilience that defines Bama. He called for continuous prayers and collaborative action to preserve peace in the region and across Nigeria.

“Peace is the foundation. Peace is our pillar. And peace must begin with us,” he said.

The monarch encouraged active participation from youth groups, women’s associations, civil organisations, and local clubs in promoting peace and unity—values deeply rooted in Bama’s cultural and historical identity.

Greening Bama: A Royal Push for Environmental Stewardship

In a forward-thinking move, His Royal Highness also underscored the importance of environmental sustainability, particularly through tree planting as a climate action strategy.

“Planting trees today is planting hope for generations to come. Let us make Bama a model of environmental consciousness in the North East,” he urged.
He applauded existing green initiatives and encouraged broader community participation to combat desertification and promote ecological balance.

A Legacy of Vision and Service

As the meeting drew to a close, the atmosphere was imbued with renewed purpose and collective resolve. Attendees departed not only with clear directives but with a deepened sense of civic pride and responsibility.

In Bama, the Shehu is more than a traditional ruler, he is a father, a visionary, and a catalyst for change. His words continue to inspire grassroots mobilization, youth engagement, and community development.

In these challenging times, Bama stands not in disarray but in unity, guided by a leader whose voice bridges the wisdom of the past with the aspirations of the future.

“Your vote is your power. Let us cast it wisely—for the Bama of our dreams.”
