Software problem at Gas Power Plant throws Maiduguri into another blackout
BY ABBAS MUSA, MARCH 06, 2024
Maiduguri, Borno’s metropolis has been in partial blackout for the past few months. It would have been in a total darkness were it not for an alternative power source put in place by ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.
The capital city was first thrown into the power problem as a result of terrorists attack on the transmission lines along Gujba Road, Yobe State in December last year.
With the attack, Maiduguri and her environs, including some parts of Yobe State were all affected.
Two days after the attack, the town resorted to the Emergency Gas Power Plant which was built and launched in March last year by Buhari.
The state capital was thrown into another blackout a week ago.
This was a result of technical issue at the power plant installations.
According to internal source working with the power plant, a turbine was down because of software problem.
He explained that the power plant has a nonstop capacity of working for six months.
‘It might be a software problem, but the experts will arrive today In Shaa Allah it will be up and running today or tomorrow,’ our source said.
