President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Student’s Loan Bill into law in fulfillment of his campaign promise to liberalize funding of education in the country.

This was revealed by an aide to the president, Dele Alake, disclosed to the State House Correspondents on Monday evening.

“Today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has just signed the Student Loan Act. This is just in fulfillment of his promise during the electioneering campaigns, where he promised that students would access loans to go to school,” he said.

The student loan bill sponsored by the Speaker of the 9th House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, which provides for interest-free loans to indigent Nigerian students, passed the third reading at the House, two weeks ago.

Kanempress learned that based on the provisions of the legislation, the fund is expected to receive applications for student loans through higher institutions on behalf of the applicants and screen them.
