The bill for the establishment of Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA) has been passed into law by the Yobe State House of Assembly.

The House adopted the report of its standing committee on information and gave its approval to the bill.

The chairman of the House Committee on Information, Sadiq Yahaya Attajiri, told Kanempress that the agency will help the government to improve the information technology system in the state.

He also said that the agency will provide training opportunities for more youth on modern computer skills and technologies to empower them.

According to him, the YITDA bill stipulates that the agency will be led by a Director-General who must have good character, integrity and at least ten years of experience in the information technology field.

He added that the bill grants a four-year term for the Director-General, Chairman and board members, which can be renewed for another term.

He praised the members of the house for their input and support for the bill at all stages.
