Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, has approved a grand reception to honour Nafisa Abdallah (17) and Rukayya Muhammad Fema (15), for emerging as world champions in English Language Skills and Debate, respectively, at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor.

The two outstanding students, both from Yobe State and currently enrolled at the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), represented Nigeria at the prestigious global competition, defeating over 20,000 participants from 69 countries.

Nafisa and Rukayya are beneficiaries of Governor Buni’s full scholarship programme, which covers tuition and academic support for 890 students at NTIC.

Governor Buni praised their exceptional achievements, describing them as a source of pride and a clear validation of his administration’s strategic investment in the education sector.

“These remarkable feats have brought honour to our state and Nigeria as a whole. They also reaffirm our belief in the transformative power of education,” Governor Buni stated.

He further reiterated his administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, pledging to continue subsidising schooling for children across Yobe State. He also urged parents to support government efforts by encouraging their children to pursue education diligently.

“We have reconstructed schools destroyed by the insurgency, provided learning materials, furniture, and laboratory equipment, and recruited qualified teachers to enhance learning outcomes. Yet, this is only the beginning — the journey continues,” he added.

Currently, over 40,000 students from Yobe State are beneficiaries of government scholarships, studying across various universities and higher institutions in Nigeria and abroad.

It is worth recalling that just a few months ago, the state celebrated the graduation of 167 scholarship beneficiaries who completed degrees in medical sciences, computer science, and engineering from universities in India.
