The Yobe State Government, led by Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, has demonstrated its strong commitment to the education sector by raising a substantial amount of money for the Education Appeal Fund. The fund aims to improve the quality and accessibility of education in the state, especially for the younger generation.
According to the recent investigation carried out by Kanempress correspondent, the actual amount raised is One Billion Six Hundred Million Naira (N1.6B), as verified by Sule Dauda, a member of the Yobe Education Trust Fund (YETFUND) committee.
This figure contradicts the baseless rumors that have been spreading in the public domain, claiming that Ten billion Naira (10B) had been collected and mismanaged for school repairs.
The YETFUND committee has swiftly and firmly refuted these false and malicious allegations, which have no evidence or credibility. The committee has also ensured that the general public is well-informed and updated about the accurate figures and facts.
The raised funds are currently being held in a special account at the Central Bank of Nigeria and have not been spent. However, the state government has already taken proactive measures to utilize other available resources, such as profits from the fund as one hundred and fourty million (140M) upfront was given to the committee, to address urgent needs in the education sector. Some of these needs include borehole installations, housing projects, and school renovations.
One of the schools that has benefited from the fund is Hon Mai Mala Buni Model School Damaturu, which was built by Governor Buni himself during his first tenure as a governor . The school had become dilapidated over time, but thanks to the YETFUND committee, it has now been completely resuscitated and upgraded with additional modern facilities. These include a solar-powered borehole and six new toilets.
The principal of the school, Bashir Bukar, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Governor Buni and the YETFUND committee for their support and intervention. He said that the school now has a conducive learning environment for its students and staff, and that the enrollment rate has increased significantly.
Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering commitment to the development and improvement of education in Yobe State is commendable and exemplary. His administration has consistently prioritized the welfare and future of the state’s younger generation, ensuring that valuable resources are channeled towards providing quality education and conducive learning environments.
As responsible citizens, it is crucial that we rely on accurate information and facts rather than succumbing to baseless rumors.
The Yobe State Government’s transparency and accountability measures in handling the Education Appeal Fund depict a sincere dedication to the well-being of its people.
Let us stand together and support Governor Mai Mala Buni’s relentless efforts towards transforming the education system in Yobe State. By doing so, we contribute to the advancement and prosperity of our beloved state.
