Yobe To Unveil 25-Year Development Plan

The Yobe State Government under the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, set to unveil a
25-Year Development Plan to transform the state as truly the ‘Pride of the Sahel and a model for development.

This was issued in a statement signed by Yusuf Ali,
Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital & Strategic Communications to Governor Mai Mala Buni.

This development was disclosed when the Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Arc Musa Suleh Damagum joined the State Sector Planning Teams (SPTs) at a special workshop in Kano.

According to Damagum, the objective was to review and update the 5-Year development plan the Yobe State Socioeconomic Reform Agenda (YOSERA) which has lapsed in 2020, set strategy and policy thrust for a new plan covering the next 25 years and also prepare a draft cost.

He said that Governor Mai Mala Buni is poised to take advantage of emerging opportunities and the ensuing challenges to attain development objectives.

“It is the road map for the transformation of Yobe State that is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as set by the United Nations,” he said, adding that the Buni administration was committed to planning and implementing people-oriented policies and programmes, through a bottom-up stakeholder consultation process to develop a people-oriented plan.

He noted: “Considering our comparative advantage in agriculture, commerce and trade, our tremendous human and natural resources, and our strategic position in the Northeast region, I have the conviction that the Gov. Buni’s vision is both realistic and achievable.”

This is as Gov. Buni restated government commitment to human capital development through infrastructure, agriculture and health resuscitation, improved education and rural development.

So far, the Buni administration has placed high priority on human capital development as the catalyst of growth with special focus on education, health and youth development.
