Concerned with the increasing number of retirements in the middle and senior cadre at the state civil service, the Yobe State Government has sponsored the training of officers in the directorate and some senior officers at strategic positions at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) in Abuja.

The Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Garba Bilal while addressing the participants at his office in Damaturu said the measure was part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s efforts to fill the gap of the mass retirement facing the state civil service.

The Head of Service stated that Gov Buni remains resolute towards minimizing the gap that may be created due to the exit of the senior officers who were mostly employed before the creation of the state over 30years ago.

He said, as you are all aware, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON has shown great interest and passion in trying to see that the civil service is reformed and reformed for better service delivery.

It is in line with this that he has made it as one of his cardinal objectives to ensure that civil servants are trained and retrained in order to give their best so that the civil service will move forward.

It is in the light of this that he has approved a training programme for directors, deputy directors and other senior officers in strategic positions at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) in Abuja.

‘’Government selected the institute based on its performance in the leadership training just as we have been patronizing ASCON for the training of our staff,,‘’Bilal disclosed.

The Head of Service who charged the participants to be good ambassadors of the state equally directed them to pass their experience at the institute of their subordinate after the training.
